Please utilize our Online Patient Portal (SimplePractice) to schedule/manage your appointments.

TELEHEALTH (aka virtual/video appts):  Online scheduling for telehealth is available via the PORTAL

-Most insurance plans (i.e. Kaiser, HMSA, UHA, HMAA) cover this service.

-We are currently planning to use the same platform (SimplePractice) that many of you have already been using to schedule appointments and complete online forms.  Please refer to the "Getting Started with Telehealth” guide for basic tips and instructions. It is quite easy!  You can use any smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone so long as you are in a private space.

-When scheduling a telehealth appt via the portal, please choose your LOCATION as:  "Telehealth/Virtual Appt"

COVID-19 Related Office Safety Policies

  • Prior to your appointment:

    • Patients agree to take their temperature the morning of their session. If unable to, patients agree to have their temperature taken upon arriving to their appointment. If you have a fever (>100°F), your session will be rescheduled. You will NOT be charged an appointment cancellation fee.

    • Patients will be required to reschedule their appointment if they have tested positive for COVID-19 or if they have had close contact to another person who is showing signs of infection or who has confirmed COVID-19 within the past TWO WEEKS of the appointment.

    • Patients will also need to reschedule their session if they are experiencing any suspected COVID19-related symptoms:   Fever (>100°F), Cough, Shortness of breath, Difficulty breathing, Chills or repeated shaking with chills, New loss of taste or smell, Sore throat  Note:  All missed appointment fees due to actual/suspected illness or actual/suspected exposure to COVID-19 will be waived during the COVID-19 public health crisis.

  • While in the office/waiting room:

    • ONLY patients who have a scheduled session will be permitted in the office/waiting room during their appointment time. Family members/friends are asked to wait downstairs. For safety reasons, minors (under the age of 14) may be accompanied by only ONE adult with the preapproval from your therapist.

    • To limit overcrowding in the waiting room, patients will arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to their appointment and leave immediately after their session ends.

    • When in the office and waiting room, patients must wear a mask at ALL times, with the exception of the following: children under the age of 5 years old; individuals with medical conditions or disabilities where the wearing of a face covering may pose a health or safety risk to the individual; anyone who has trouble breathing, or otherwise unable to remove the cloth face covering without assistance.

    • Immediately upon entering the waiting room, patients will use hand sanitizer supplied by the office (or they may use their own alcohol-based sanitizer).

    • Patients will refrain from touching their face (eyes, mouth) with their hands. If they do, they will immediately wash or sanitize their hands.

    • Water and reading materials will not be available in order to minimize spread. Additionally, food and drink consumption will not be allowed in the waiting room or offices.

    • To the fullest extent possible and reasonably feasible, patients will maintain a minimum of 6-feet physical separation from others and will refrain from physical contact (e.g., hand-shaking). Patients will adhere to safe distancing precautions set up in the waiting room. For example, patients won’t move chairs or sit where we have signs asking individuals not to sit.

  • Regarding confidentiality in the case of infection:

    • If you have tested positive for COVID-19, Dr. Kaloi-Chen may be required to notify health authorities and other individuals of a possible exposure.  For safety reasons, Dr. Kaloi-Chen will also notify the other psychologists in Suite 450, building management, and other individuals who may have been exposed (e.g., contact tracing; disinfecting office; symptom monitoring).
